About Steve

Hello, I'm Steve — your local handyman in Runcorn, Frodsham and Helsby.

I've spent most of my working life keeping things running safely. Now I do it closer to home — for people who appreciate a patient, trustworthy pair of hands.

For over 25 years I worked in industrial maintenance — planning and managing outages, equipment repairs, servicing and safety-critical inspections for compliance on large power, production and manufacturing plants, but at 55 I wanted a change in my life and have decided to spend the next stretch of my working life doing something I enjoy, closer to home, while finally getting round to a few things I've never had time for.

I've always liked fixing and making things with my hands, and there's a real satisfaction in sorting out a problem for someone that you just don't get from rushing job to job. This is the work I want to be doing.

Some of it is close to my heart. When my own mum and dad needed their home made safer and more accessible, I was the one who did it — taking out the old bath and fitting a walk-in shower, adding grab rails and making the bathroom somewhere they could manage safely and with dignity. Doing that for my own parents taught me that even the smallest job can matter enormously — and how much it means to someone when it's done properly.

So that's what I do now: I'm the reliable person who turns up, sorts the thing that's been bothering you, and leaves your home a little safer and more comfortable than I found it. I take my time, I explain things plainly, and I treat your home the way I'd treat my own.
