Booking & the basics

Do you take on small jobs?

Yes — that's exactly what I do. The small, everyday jobs that are often too small for a bigger tradesman to bother with, or too fiddly to manage alone, are the whole point of the business.

Can I get in touch on behalf of a parent or relative?

Yes, very welcome to. I'm happy to deal with you, them, or both — whatever's easiest for your family. See how I help with elderly & accessibility support.

How do I book a job?

Call, WhatsApp, text or use the contact form — tell me what you need (a few photos help) and I'll give you a fixed price and a time that suits you. There's no obligation and no charge for a quote.

What happens if a job turns out to be bigger than expected?

If a job ever needs more once I'm in, we agree it together before I carry on — you're never charged for anything you haven't agreed to first. If it turns out to need a qualified builder, electrician or plumber for notifiable work, I'll say so honestly rather than take on something outside safe scope.

Pricing & payment

How much do you charge?

Every job has a fixed price, published upfront on the pricing page — so you know the cost before I knock on the door. No hourly surprises. There's also a cost guide if you'd like typical prices for the most common jobs first.

What's included in a fixed-price quote?

Every job on the price list is fixed and published upfront — what you see is what you pay. Where parts are included, they're included; anything else is charged at cost, with receipts if you'd like them. There's no call-out or travel charge within Runcorn, Frodsham or Helsby.

Is there a call-out or travel charge?

No — there's no call-out or travel fee within my area of Runcorn, Frodsham and Helsby. If you're just outside, ask anyway and I'll let you know.

How do I pay?

Card, cash or bank transfer — whichever suits you. Payment is due on completion, and there's no upfront deposit for standard jobs.

What if my job isn't on the price list?

Just describe it or send a few photos and I'll give you a price before we book anything. Small one-off visits start from £50.

Trust & safety

Are you insured?

Yes — I'm fully insured with £2m public liability cover, and I'm DBS checked. I'll always show ID when I arrive.

Is my handyman DBS checked?

Yes — I'm DBS checked and cleared, and I'll always show ID when I arrive, so you know exactly who's at the door. Read more about Steve.

Will someone need to be home during the visit?

For most jobs, yes — I'll need someone able to let me in and show me what needs doing at the start of the visit. If that's tricky, just mention it when you get in touch and we'll work out what suits.
